St. Cuan’s College is celebrating an incredible milestone in its VEX Robotics journey, with both the Junior and Senior Robotics teams qualifying for the All-Ireland Robotics Championships, which will take place in MTU Cork on 24th and 25th of February.

VEX Robotics is an international STEM programme involving over one million participants worldwide. Students design, build and programme their own robots to compete in an exciting, teamwork-based competition. In addition to developing STEM skills, students cultivate critical thinking, communication, collaboration and project management skills.

Both St. Cuan’s teams qualified following outstanding performances at ATU Galway, where the Senior team won the tournament outright, overcoming every other robot in the competition. Since September 2025, students have designed, built, tested, rebuilt and refined their robots, demonstrating months of innovation, resilience and teamwork under the guidance and management of Mr. Colin Lynch.

Qualification for the All-Ireland Championships carries even greater significance. A win by either team would see St. Cuan’s College represent Ireland at the World Robotics Championships in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, in late April. To have two teams competing at this level is an exceptional achievement.
